Eddie Brock has long been one of Spider-Man's deadliest foes. Bonded to an alien creature which acts as a second skin, Brock can duplicate many of Spider-Man’s powers. In addition, the alien tissue can act as a living weapon, forming tendrils, blades, or spikes in the blink of an eye.
Ever since Brock's transformation into Anti-Venom, his mere presence weakens Spider-Man, and prolonged exposure might “de-power” the wall-crawler permanently.
